Geoff had a plan on his mind. He heard news from Marissa about the divorce and thought to himself... what about trying to set him on a date with Connor? He invited J into his house with intention to introduce them to each other.

When G and J talked to each other Connor had a call from Samantha, his friend. Geoff quickly disrupted his call, like "Hey, I got someone you should meet. He's my ex BIL btw".

They tried to be nice to each other but had nothing to talk about. They felt weird with each other. Only one bolt.

To turn, the tension down, all three of them went to Downtown. Connor and Jason agree that Geoff is really hot. Sadly he's straight.

Connor got very curious (no pun intended) about the lady playing poker. He played for a little with her but they didn't click. He's highly interested in supernatural things and didn't expect aliens to be real.

After talking to each other a bit, they caught a vibe and did the usual ACR ritual, finishing in a photo booth. All with just one bolt!

Geoff that night got lucky too and met Virginya Feng.

Some Sims needs to stay away from alcohol, and Vidcund Curious is a good example.

Now a quick ramble about my gender preference rules. Right now I NEVER pick a GP for my Sims and let ACR handle it. I just feel a bit uncomfortable enforcing gender preferences on sims and it being random both makes for interesting scenarios and I don't feel guilty about it. Sadly Tank Grunt rolled straight and I consider changing that. Also I see Pascal as asexual so no Nervous/Pascal for me.

Familie Cho (Belladonna Cove)

Runde 2 (Jahre 6-10):

Etsu Cho trauerte um ihren Papagei Scribble. RIP.

Vivian Cho bemerkte, dass sie schwanger ist. Wer der Vater ist, wusste sie zu diesem Zeitpunkt nicht. Es kämen zwei Sims in Frage: Carlos Contender und Connor Weir.

Aber schon bald erfuhr sie die Antwort, als sie Bryan Cho in den Armen hielt.

Vivian wünschte sich eine feste Beziehung. Aber sie war nicht sicher, ob sie den Vater ihres Sohnes, Connor, oder doch lieber ihren Nachbarn Timothy Riley wählen solle. In beide Sims ist sie verliebt, bei Timothy verspürt sie zudem eine sehr starke Anziehung. Sie versuchte also zu beiden Kontakt herzustellen, um herauszufinden, welchen Weg sie gehen will. Für Connor ist die Entscheidung längst gefallen. Aber es liegt nicht allein an ihm.

Etsu und Bryan hatten Geburtstag:

Vivian hatte ein Date mit Connor, das im Schlafzimmer endete - eine Entscheidung bezüglich ihres Beziehungswunschs ist leider nicht gefallen.

Während ihre Mutter auf der Arbeit war, entschied Etsu eine nachträgliche Geburtstagsparty zu veranstalten. Auf dieser Party bekam sie auch ihren ersten Kuss. Von Timothy Riley. Ja, der Timothy Riley, der Vater ihrer Freundin Sally Riley und Flirt ihrer Mutter. Und das auch noch vor den Augen von Sally und Geoff Rutherford. Was wäre Sims ohne meine Lieblingsmod ACR....

Vivian hatte ebenfalls ein Date mit Timothy, der, wie es aussieht, bald Nachwuchs erwartet.

Leider ist auch aus diesem Treffen kein klarer Wunsch entstanden, mit wem Vivian sich binden will. Aber die Angst davor, dass Connor eine feste Beziehung ablehnt. Insofern interpretiere ich, dass sie sich für Connor entschieden hat, damit ihr Sohn nicht auch (wie Etsu) ohne Vater aufwachsen muss.

On move-in day they found out that a) the second roommate is the other twin and b) the advertiser died the day before via murphy bed

Geoff Rutherford and Connor Weir get their personalities switched. Also Connor becomes a family sim

Welcome to Belladonna Cove! Pt. II

A story is nothing without its supporting characters. Let's meet them!

Peterson household

Everyone in Belladonna Cove knows Jessica Peterson. Everyone knows she never loved Armand deBateau and only wanted his money. So it really comes as no surprise to her that Marissa Cleveland does not want the two to even be hinted together. She goes along with the occasional argument at Centre Drip Coffee Shop only to secretly meet in the bathroom like two high schoolers. But it does hurt her. A lot. She found herself falling for Marissa, in a way she hasn’t fallen for anyone before, and dreaming about what a life together would be like. For once she wishes her partner weren’t one of Belladonna Cove’s elite. Regardless, everyone knows Jessica cheated on Armand with Carlos Contender. Everyone… except her trailermate (if that is even a thing) Teresa Vale, who has fallen victim to Carlos’s charms. The two had an amazing date recently and Teresa hasn’t stopped thinking about Carlos since. She has been feeling awfully sick recently too, Connor Weir was not at all pleased with the mess she left in his bathroom when she came over…

Contender household

Which leads us to the Contender “family”. Despite his age, Carlos is still in peak form - and the ladies seem to think so too, judging by the amount of female sims coming in and out of the house. Most are just one night stands, among which young Teresa Vale who has just recently moved to Belladonna Cove, while others are more regular “visitors”. This illustrious set includes the likes of Chastity Gere and Clara Okuma, also known as his gardener (it has just occurred to me that this gives a whole new meaning to “trimming the bushes”) Clara is quite the character, actually. She drops by, they woohoo to start the workday with a bang (I really have to stop with the puns), and then she just… decides that clothing is optional? And works on his front lawn, quite literally next to the street, naked? What a weirdo. But if sparks fly with any of his female companions, it’s Chastity Gere. Boy does she give him a good workout.

Green household

As for Chastity Gere, one can say she is the poor (wo)man’s version of Carlos Contender, not only because she is actually poor, but also because she lacks the game to pull what Carlos pulls. She fails quite a lot at getting laid, quite spectacularly even, and so far has only managed to sleep with Carlos Contender and Geoff Rutherford which, if we are to be honest, isn’t exactly the most respectable of companies. If anyone’s standards are even a toenail above the ground then they are probably rejecting Chastity, unfortunately for her. Now she even has the house to herself, but that isn’t enough to impress her dates. She has the house to herself because Gabriel Green has moved in with his now-wife, Samantha Cordial! Sorry, Gabriel Cordial as he is now known. 

Note: my localised translation has Chastity’s family share the (translated) Cleveland family name, so to me there is a familial link between the two. What link I'm not yet sure.

Cordial household

The wedding was a cute little gathering at the Cordial house, unlike the pomp and circumstance of Samantha’s sister Kimberly. Just the two and a few close friends, for example a certain Phoebe Adams. Samantha and Phoebe sure were close, so close in fact that one day Samantha even started dressing up as Phoebe with her weird dress and hat and claimed she was a “witch”. Yeah right, as if witches are real. Gabriel still loves Samantha in spite of her delusions, and the two had a baby girl named Sabrina because apparently that was an appropriate name for a witch. This witch thing is getting out of hand but he likes the name, regardless of meaning. Gabriel also feels the house is smaller on the inside than it looks from the outside, he can’t quite understand how the dimensions don't add up.

Rutherford household

There was a brief situationship between Samantha and Connor Weir, before she had started dating Gabriel. They had even gone on vacation together with Geoff Rutherford and Kimberly as Geoff saw the opportunity to get in Samantha’s sister Kimberly’s pants (spoilers, he failed), but nothing much came of it. Eventually Samantha and Gabriel got together and the rest is history. Geoff continued on his path of reckless spending and redecorated the entire house to his liking (he really wanted a conservatory, he probably played too much Clue recently), burning through most of the family money that he had left. His business career hasn’t really taken off, if anything it is on a downhill slope after his recent demotion. Much like Chastity, his luck with the opposite gender has been mixed, which probably explains the pair’s chemistry. Hey, at least they have each other if (or rather, when) their plans for any given night fail. Geoff’s best friend Connor, on the other hand, keeps mostly to himself. He’s not an exemplary worker by any means, but at least he hasn’t been demoted and feels he is close to getting a much wanted promotion. He didn’t really try again after him and Samantha Cordial failed, but a miracle happened one day. Him and Geoff had gone to Centre Drip one afternoon, as they usually do, and got to talking with one of the boys there, who in turn introduced Connor to a friend of his who he thought would be a great match. And he was right! Connor Weir and Palmira Wendland were a match made in heaven. They dated for a while, then she moved in and the two are thinking about finding their own place, though having been recently fired from her music job isn’t exactly the best situation to be in when you want to find your own place.

Megakingom Makeovers!

I had a brief setback in the form of a single piece of CC deciding to crash the Beaker lot, but aside from that I have been plugging along nicely, setting up the Megakingdom. In this post, enjoy the rest of the Strangetown makeovers and the first few Riverblossom Hills makeovers!

Ajay Loner:

I had to give somebody a serf hood, and he got the short end of the stick. It protects him from the desert sun, probably. Being a peasant in Strangetown, he'll probably be a miner.

Nervous is going to move in with his mom after a round or so, when she formally acknowledges him as her heir. Loki's going to try to manipulate matters so that his sister Erin marries Nervous and becomes the next Duchess of Strangetown--they rarely have chemistry in my games, and I'm probably going to make Nervous have feelings for his dear friend Pascal, but I think under medieval rules, Loki can force the matter as long as Erin and/or Nervous don't have better legal offers, and as long as Olive doesn't object. Looking forward to playing that Drama.

Moving on to Riverblossom Hills, we start with Alexandra Teatherton (nee O'Mackey)

It is technically possible for her to fulfill her dream of being a pirate (literally, not through the Adventurer career), but she will have to earn (or marry) her way up to Yeoman so she can move to Bluewater Village, then get hired on a ship owned by somebody else (nobody owns a ship yet) and work her way up to Captain. (...I may add some mutiny mechanics so she can take over an become a true pirate, but one step at a time here).

I didn't stick closely to Jason's original outfit, figuring this is a man who abandoned society to go live in the woods with his dryad wife. He should look the part a little more! I could have kept Rose in her plantsim outfit, or something close to it, but this green dress was impossible to resist. As the yeoman family of Riverblossom Hills, they may run a hedge tavern, although it's highly likely I'll have them run an orchard as well.

In case anyone's curious, I decided to delete Hat's Gestation-Based Aging in favor of 1 Day = 1 Year Aging, although I haven't decided how to handle college yet as I struggle to get my sims through 24-hour semesters. Most likely, I'll use the Semester Changes mod to make each college year be one 48-hour semester, and then play college rounds double. It's not perfect, but I can't think of any other method that would fit. (well, I could make an in-hood college as described in the MCC rules, but I don't wanna.) All this is going to mean that I need to carefully figure out all premade sims' ages and birthdates all over again, which is always both fun and tedious at the same time.

I'm several play (well, makeover and build) sessions ahead of my posts; today I finished making over all Riverblossom Hills sims, and I built the Baldwins' hedge tavern, the Clevelands' home, and the Cordials' magic shop. I also did quick exterior remodels of two BDC buildings, which was fun. I still have to give makeovers to all the Veronaville sims (including the Picasos, the Travellers, and Cy Roseland, moved to Veronaville for bloodline diversity), all premade college sims, Kaylynn Langerak, and as many townies as I can grab; and I need to build/remodel 2-3 BDC homes (one for Duke Armand DeBateau, and either one or two depending on whether I decide to keep Lord Connor Weir and Lord Geoff Rutherford living together or not), plus quick facelifts for all remaining unowned homes and community lots so they don't look stupid in the background. Then it'll just be a matter of setting up sims' ages, traits, an secondary aspirations correctly... and then I can start playing? While continuing to remodel locations in the next subhood as I go? Man, I am getting there.

At work, both guys were considered for a Executive position. Connor chose to buy a gift for coworker's children as a family guy buy Geoff went out for a dinner with her. Geoff was the clear the winner of the situation.

November 13th 1850 saw the birth in Edinburgh of Robert Louis Stevenson, the renowned essayist, poet, and author of fiction and travel books.

An annual event on a very busy Edinburgh schedule,Robert Louis Stevenson Day, or RLS Day as it known is now established on the literary calendar when the life, loves and works of one of the most famous writers born in our City of Literature gets marked with a moustache-twirling and velvet-clad week full of events, in town and online, leading up to Stevenson’s birthday on the 13th November.

Stevenson came from a long line of eminent lighthouse engineers and it looked like he would follow in the family footsteps when he started in Edinburgh University studying Engineering but later switched to law.

As a teenager he was a young dandy, whose habit of wearing a velveteen coat and wide-brimmed hat earned him the nickname 'Velvet Jacket. As a student at Edinburgh University he used to hang out at Rutherford’s Bar. His cousin recalled that when he was watching a snowball fight between students and locals in the quadrangle of the University, Stevenson was "craning his neck too much in his keen enjoyment" and "overbalanced". He slipped from his perch on a ledge and was captured by a "bobby" and "ignominiously marched off to the Police Office"

When Stevenson first wrote Treasure Island, he submitted his stories under nom-de-plume of Captain George North to a children's periodical called Young Folks.

As well as being a writer Stevenson played the piano and flageolet, a type of flute, he wrote more than 100 original musical compositions and arrangements, including solos, duets, trios and quartet. His works include ten songs written to his own poetry.

On writing "Jekyll and Hyde" h is wife Fanny complained that he had not made the allegory strong enough and he tossed the 30,000 word manuscript into the fire. Then in "a white heat", using a quill pen and ink pot, he stayed in bed for three days and wrote a new version. He would later claim that it was the worst thing he ever wrote but The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde sold 40,000 copies in it's first six months on sale in 1886, an impressive amount even by today's standards.

From the late 1880s, following a number of visits to Hawaii, Stevenson was increasingly living in the South Pacific with his family on an estate he had purchased in Vailima, Samoa. The servants on the estate called him Tusitala or "Teller of Tales". During this period he wrote the novel The Wrong Box with his stepson Lloyd Osbourne.

Fanny suffered a mental breakdown in 1893. And on 3 December 1894 Stevenson died of a brain haemorrhage at the family home in Samoa. He was just 44 years old and according to many he was approaching the height of his powers as an author. He left unfinished what many consider his greatest work, Weir of Hermiston.

RLS's grave on Mt Vaea, Samoa carries the following quotation from his Old Mortality, published in 1884 Here he lies where he longed to be; home is the sailor, home from sea, and the hunter home from the hill.

I will be trying to overcome my aversion to toddlers by playing an adults-only household. Geoff Rutherford is a flirty and hydrophobic party animal, cat person and bot fan. Connor Weir is a family-oriented, over-emotional, adventurous and coward (kind of self-contradictory now that I think about it?) night owl. ACR rolled them both as straight. Let's pretend that I'm not disappointed.
